If you have wanted to opt for solar energy, but do not have the budget to install solar collectors to your home, small solar panels are a great way to begin using energy from the sun. Solar energy does not cost anything, but the installation and equipment required to harness this energy source can be prohibitive for some consumers. We are often told to think big when it comes to meeting our goals, however, this is one instance where thinking smaller will better.

Small solar panels are a reasonable energy source for many things. Many of these energy needs are smaller than a fully solar powered home or business. We can’t all have thousands of solar arrays. It’s not yet financially practical for many consumers’ budgets to install residential solar panels. For those of us that want to begin using solar energy, but lack the budget for large solar collectors, small solar panels are a great option.

There are many smaller energy needs for which solar energy is perfectly suited. Off-site needs, such as those without access to a power grid are great uses for solar energy. There are many examples of these remote power needs. Some of them are included in the following list.

  • Boats often use solar panels to power appliances on board, such as mini refrigerators.
  • RV solar panels are great for supplementing power to these vehicles while off-grid.
  • Incident management signage on our interstates and highways often implement solar energy to keep their message signs and lights well lit.
  • Electric gate openers often use small solar panels. The limited energy needs can be reasonably met by solar power.
  • Solar trickle battery chargers supply an infrequently used vehicle, remote building alarm or boat battery a low flow of power in order to keep the batteries from draining.
  • Solar panels that are very miniscule can power cell phone chargers, mp3 chargers and solar flashlights.
  •

There are a great many uses for solar collectors that are much smaller than the more visible ones that you see on tops of buildings. When considering solar energy, it helps to contemplate all the energy uses and learn to start small. Beginning with small solar panels will be a great start in using green energy sources.

Many avid outdoor adventurers have already turned to using solar energy for small devices. Because hikers, campers and bikers are off-grid much of the time, they have realized the great potential found in these smaller solar panels. Outdoorsmen use energy from the sun to power flashlights and lanterns. They also rely on solar energy for keeping in contact with others by using solar chargers for cell phones and walkie-talkies. Small solar panels have become a valuable resource for remote energy needs. Whether you need to charge a small hand-held device, provide energy to a gate-opener or use solar cells to cook food on a camping trip, small solar panels will get the job done.
