Home solar panel electric
Everyone seems to know that the use of home solar panels
can greatly reduce electric bills. Of course, it is important to keep
in mind that it can take a many years before those savings overtake
the initial cost of the home solar panels. Are there other, less expensive
ways to see a reduction in your electric bills? Yes. Here are some things
that you can do, rather than install home solar panels, if you want
to see a decrease in your electric bills:
Run your washing machine on cold.
Hang dry your clothing.
Only run your dishwasher when it is completely full.
Keep your window shades down.
Use space heaters (only in the room you are in) instead of your heating
system, but be sure to turn them off when not in use.
Use fans instead of an air condition.
Use compact fluorescent bulbs.
Use solar garden lights (they do not need to grid-tied).
Turn off your computer when not using it. At the very least, put it
in hibernation mode.
Turn off the TV and read a book instead.
Update your fridge – older models use up much more energy.
When buying new appliances, look for the energy star rating.
Change your heat and air condition to run at just a few degrees less/more.
When cooking small amounts, use your microwave instead of your electric
oven.
Insulate your floors, walls, and attic. Even a rug can help.
Use weather-stripping and caulk.
Use energy efficient windows or at least add storm windows.
Turn down your water heater when on vacation.
Install home wind turbines equipment,
essentially the same concept as solar panels.
These are just a few energy saving tips that can be used instead of
or in conjunction with home solar panels. There is no reason for your
electric bills to remain as high as they are. Even if you find you are
not quite ready for home solar panels, you can certainly follow many
of these energy-saving tips.
